Back on the Map!

When you think that we've gone away and that we aren't active anymore, that's just the right time to let you know that WE ARE here, stronger than ever in the vegan straight edge!! Just doing different things. NO selling out for us. Just fighting for the good cause, in case you forgot!

I am proud to see new animal rights movements here in Greece, and I am psyched to support and help them. Get the word out... veganism is here to STAY!

Sunday, 23 of March will bring the first thoroughly organized animal rights protest in Greece. Sure, there's been protests before (mainly anti-fur), but this seems to be bigger, due to the fact that veganism and AR are actually bigger in Greece now than ever before. Moreover, there's many different AR groups participating, so it won't be based on specific group's cliquey protest. Let's show them what's up!

One of the groups that has recently taken life in our country is the 269life department of Greece. I am not a member or anything, but I have met some members and they seem to be pretty devoted to the cause. I don't know why some people are talking about 269 being fascists or something, I don't get it. I don't want to say anything inaccurate or offensive, so correct me if I am wrong, but for now the 269 thing in Greece is totally unaffiliated with any form of fascism, elitism etc. So don't go condeming the whole movement already!

Animal Liberation Vs Human Cruelty

Whatever happens and no matter how far we take it with animal liberation activism, we should always remember that human species (like every other species on Earth) is still an important part of the whole and also the species to which we belong. Let's not make our sensitivity for non-human animals become only an outlet of our disguised hatred towards humans. I see many people who go down the path of activism neglecting their fellow man and this is not something I could ever support. I know that we humans are the ones to blame for a lot of fucked up stuff on this planet (basically its very destruction), but if we turn against ourselves then we're no different than any other extremist who devalues Life as it is. Our aim is to change things... educate, reinstate, escalate...

In other words, please don't end up like these guys below :)

Ό,τι κι αν κάνουμε και όσο μακριά και αν πάμε με τον ακτιβισμό υπέρ της απελευθέρωσης των ζώων, θα πρέπει πάντα να θυμόμαστε ότι το ανθρώπινο είδος (όπως και κάθε άλλο είδος πάνω στη Γη) είναι ένα σημαντικό μέρος του όλου που χρειάζεται κατανόηση, φροντίδα και υποστήριξη. Ας μην κάνουμε την ευαισθησία μας προς τα μη-ανθρώπινα ζώα απλά μια αλληγορία του μίσους μας προς τους ανθρώπους.  Βλέπω πολλούς που ακολουθούν το μονοπάτι του ακτιβισμού να αγνοούν το διπλανό τους άνθρωπο - και αυτό είναι κάτι που δεν θα μπορούσα να υποστηρίξω με τίποτα. Ξέρω ότι εμείς οι άνθρωποι φταίμε για πολλά από τα άσχημα που συμβαίνουν στον πλανήτη (ουσιαστικά για την καταστροφή του), αλλά αν στραφούμε ενάντια στους εαυτούς μας τότε δεν είμαστε διαφορετικοί από τον οποιονδήποτε εξτρεμιστή που υποτιμά την ίδια την αξία της ζωής.

Vegan World Billboard (Spread it!)

The purpose of this virtual billboard is to remind us that veganism is OUR choice. We have the ability to say no to violence. We have the ability to affirm the personhood of animals. We have the ability to reject the status of animals as property. We have the ability to say no to speciesism. We have the ability to solve the problem of animal exploitation in the only way it can be solved: by abolishing the demand for animal products.

Worlds Apart

It was only last night we played a live show and I dedicated one of our songs to the vegetarians and those who care about animal rights. The audience cheered and weird as it may seem, the hardcore punk scene is a context which allows this kind of progressive thinking. Unfortunately now I am back again in the 'real' world, where treatιng animals with absolute cruelty is just the norm. Seeing horrible pictures of tortured animals on the Internet just leaves me thinking how few of us are those who care are and how many the uneducated and heartless are. Still, we're gonna FIGHT against apathy!

Mόλις χθες παίξαμε ένα live και αφιέρωσα ένα από τα τραγούδια μας στους παρευρισκόμενους χορτοφάγους και αυτούς που στηρίζουν τα δικαιώματα των ζώων. Παράξενο και αν ακούγεται, ένας χώρος όπως το hardcore punk μπορεί και δημιουργεί το πλαίσιο για προοδευτικούς τρόπους σκέψης όπως ο βιγκανισμός. Δυστυχώς όμως, τώρα βρίσκομαι και πάλι στον 'πραγματικό' κόσμο, όπου το να συμεριφέρεσαι στα μη ανθρώπινα ζώα με απόλυτη σκληρότητα είναι απλά κάτι το συνηθισμένο και αποδεκτό. Βλέποντας φωτογραφίες βασανισμένων ζώων στο Internet με αφήνει να σκέφτομαι πόσοι λίγοι είμαστε αυτοί που νοιαζόμαστε και πόσοι πολλοί είναι οι αμόρφωτοι και οι άκαρδοι. Κι όμως... ΠΟΛΕΜΑΜΕ ενάντια στην απάθεια!
