Eden's Demise - XVX Metal from Russia

Vegan straight edge metal with brutal dual vocals (incl. one female singer) straight from Moscow! This is the kind of shit you want to check out.

 http://edensdemise.bandcamp.com/

This new band resembles a lot early Purified In Blood and that type of apocalyptic XVX metal, in my book that's a really good thing.

Enjoying the melodic death/metalcore riffs and double bass assault; nice touch with the brutal female vocals, too.

P.S. Also not to be confused with Greece's own Eden Demise (a brutal metal/hardcore band).

The Talon Conspiracy - Vegan/Animal Liberation zines from the past

OK!

As you know, every self-respecting vegan straightedge individual must take the time to educate themselves on veganism, be it becoming a pro on health and nutrition; learning and understanding the principles on ethics, economics and politics behind the vegan stand; or researching the history of the animal rights movement.

I am glad to find there's still people out there who put in the effort to bring back to the surface obscure vegan resources from the past. There is so much shit that is legendary but obscure and hard to find; the militant xveganx nerd in me is always on the hunt.

I recently discovered a haven for such things: The Talon Conspiracy is an awesome and very thorough online information hub on all things vegan and animal liberation. These guys have uploaded a bunch of super important oldschool vegan zines, which you can click and read online.

Check out and support the Talon Conspiracy!

Milk Effin Sucks!

I see it every day... people just don't want to accept the truth about milk & its products.

Well I guess we vegans will have to bombard pus drinkers with the facts on why it is bad for their health, if the cruelty imposed on animals doesn't convince them.

Wake the fuck up, drop that glass of milk pus and start indulging in the awesome dairy-free products which are growingly available in most food stores!

A Fuck You to the Armchair Revolutionary

I haven't posted here in a good while but man, I gotta get some things off my chest.

Another fashion statement for punks?
I am so sick and tired of all this talk about liberation from people who don't live it, let alone from some who are not even vegan! How can these people sit down and write all these long articles about 'total', humyn and animal liberation... and then still have fucking everything they eat with cheese and milk in it? This is truly pathetic.

What fucking good will another armchair revolutionary do to the vegan struggle? All this theoretical talk about anarchy and veganism, preaching to the converted just won't cut it anymore. It's useless. I am not saying I am fighting the oppressors in the trenches every fucking night so I keep my mouth shut and don't pretend to be some righteous PC warrior king. Moreoever, I know one thing: the world won't change with pamphlets and opinions on the struggle, it will change (if it ever will) by example. And in short, this is what we need: more examples of solid vegan lifestyles!

Some people just don't get it. They don't care about the truth, they just wanna live the dream, and in their minds they are some great anarchist activists, fighting the system from their bedroom behind their computer. Oh how I wish for their fantasy to be crushed... and it surely will be!

p.s. And don't get me wrong. Education is awesome, but there are many sources on veganism and liberation as it is. What we actually need is action and lives changed!!!

Strife - Rebirth!

The vegan straight edge is all about consistence; without it, we show that our stand was not solid and we also give the whole movement a bad name through being a bad example ourselves. However, the vegan straight edge is also about tolerance. Who can say how long each of us will last despite our for life pledges? Who are we to criticize the people and the bands who laid down the foundations of the vegan straight edge movement back in the day?

In my opinion, the return of Strife is one of the best things that happened to hardcore in 2012 (along with the new Bad Brains album!). It is so great to see this legend come back to life with an incredible sound. Undoubtedly, Strife was one of the three most influential vegan straight edge bands of the whole 90s hardcore scene, the other two being Earth Crisis and Snapcase. It really doesn't matter to me if Strife isn't vegan and/or straight edge anymore, because I still get that burning feeling of urgency the early records gave off; the songs in Witness a Rebirth comes straight from the heart with a message of clear-minded thinking. It is just a good hardcore record that gives us lessons in integrity, self-reliance, strength and personal reflection.

Personally, I find that Witness a Rebirth does in fact make me even more proud to be vegan & straight edge, because it expresses a positive mindset that is open to interpretation. 2013's Strife essentially stands for those same values the vegan straight edge represents. In turn, tthis reminds me that hardcore is one big family and that the bands we listen to are like our best friends, making our life just a little bit better with their message and music.
